Seized and supplied DVR exports arrive in whatever format the recorder wrote, each with its own player. We convert them to standard MP4 with the cameras synchronised and the recorder's own timing preserved, and issue a certificate that records exactly what was received and what was produced.
Every job produces a certificate stating what was received — each source file with its SHA-256 — and what was produced, together with a digest of the coded picture data on both sides of the conversion. It records when the conversion happened and what carried it out.
Where an export covers a period longer than the footage it actually holds — because the camera dropped frames — the certificate states the shortfall per camera rather than leaving it to be discovered.
Conversion of a CCTV export is a named sub-activity of FSA DIG 300 (recovery and processing of footage from CCTV/VSS) at section 72.3.2(e)(i) of the statutory Code of Practice. We do not carry out and do not offer any activity falling under FSA DIG 301 — no speed or distance estimation, no image comparison, no analysis of the precision of timing information, and no video compilations combined into a single file.
We do not claim compliance with the Code, and nothing here should be read as claiming it. The Code offers a route for this sub-activity that does not require ISO/IEC 17025 accreditation, and we are working towards it; until that is done we make no declaration under section 98.10.3 and none appears on our certificates. What is set out above is the scope of what we do, so you can see where it sits.
If you need our position stated in writing before instructing, ask. We would rather set it out plainly than have it raised afterwards.
The recorder's own clock is drawn as a live overlay rather than burnt into the image, so the underlying picture is never altered. Where the export's declared period and its actual duration disagree, that is measured and reported rather than smoothed over.
Processing takes place in the United Kingdom in ISO/IEC 27001 certified data centres. Each conversion runs in an isolated environment with no network access of any kind. Material is deleted automatically within 24 hours and is never backed up.
Not sure whether yours will convert? Send us one export that has given you trouble. We will tell you whether it converts, usually the same day, and there is no charge for finding out.
